With a wallbox you can conveniently shop from home at your own electric filling station. But before you can install and use your Wallbox, there are a few steps before you have to pay attention.

1. Which wallbox offers me exactly what I need? Pay attention to the following features:

• Vehicle connection: Type 1 or Type 2
• Charging power: 3.7 kW - 22 kW
• Additional services: Smart charging, app, integrated meters, FI circuit breakers, ...

2. Sign up Wallbox and, if necessary, have it approved

If you have chosen a suitable solution, you should definitely register with your network operator before purchasing the Wallbox. As a rule, all wallboxes are subject to notification, regardless of the charging capacity. From a charging capacity of 12 kW, these are even subject to approval. It is best to contact your network operator (electricity) directly.

3. How long does it take to register?

Your network operator now has 2 months to check the local network situation and decide whether the installation of a 22 kW wallbox is secured. Only with the approval of the network operator may it be installed. So the following applies here: register as early as possible with the product data sheet. The commitment is valid for 4 months.

4. Your network operator refuses to allow permission?

It must be ensured that there can be no dangerous overloads of the lines or possible dangers from cable fire. If the power grid for the house connection has to be strengthened, the costs will be borne by the person who wants to register the wallbox.

5. Wallbox is registered and has been approved - and now?

If you have the approval in hand and the wallbox is on its way to you, it still needs to be installed, usually by a specialist. Depending on the design, there are costs for working time, travel costs and material costs if the connection still needs to be set up.

6. How can I save on buying and installing a wallbox?

You can cushion the costs a little with possible grants. Inquire in your state if you can get the wallbox or even the installation if necessary. Some power providers also give you a bonus as the owner of an electric car.
